The Armada is eternal and forever changing, one must never become stagnate, yet one must never forget where one came from. Moving in circles yet growing closer to the heavens we are the dream of Brahma and the perfect creature that mankind was born from in the Snowy lands. Visions of us are what legends are made of. The wise monkey still laughs in the face of adversity. We are reminded in our darkest hour of a legend;

Jupiter issued a proclamation to all the beasts of the forest and promised a royal reward to the one whose offspring should be deemed the handsomest. The Monkey came with the rest and presented, with all a mother’s tenderness, a flat-nosed, hairless, ill-featured young Monkey as a candidate for the promised reward. A general laugh saluted her on the presentation of her son. She resolutely said, "I know not whether Jupiter will allot the prize to my son, but this I do know, that he is at least in the eyes of me his mother, the dearest, handsomest, and most beautiful of all."

In order to be free you must access your Monkee Mind; you must leave behind the corrupt hue-man hive mentality. Shed your false humanity and swing from the trees. Inside each of us lurks a beast be it Monkee or Panda, Squirrel or Penguin. You must shed your false mortal coil and recognize your Monkee heritage, remember that we are the descendents of Sun Wu Kong, we come from the same lineage as Hanuman, Thoth, we bring knowledge and light, and the hue-man race was born from our genes, we are the founding fathers of the earth itself. The trees are our kingdom and all the world is our domain, there is nothing we cannot do, nothing we cannot out shine. We are the Vanara who dwell in the midst of the forest of Kishkindha.

According to the Hinduism, ‘Number 9’ is governed by planet ‘Mars’. It is also a number of Lord Hanuman. The September 9, 2009 also brings some strange facts with it. If we give a close look on human body and nature, we can get interesting facts regarding number nine and its importance. The number nine is closely associated with the process of creation in the cosmic time cycle. The entire cosmic cycle consists of three phases—creation, preservation and dissolution. Each of these three parts split into triads (3×3=9) brings the numerical order to nine. Adi Sankaracharya also described the importance of number nine in ‘Soundaryalahiri’, According to him, the four Siva chakras and five Sakti chakras create the nine Mula-Prakratis or basic manifestations. There are Nava-Yoni. Nine apertures of the body—two eyes, two ears, two nostrils, mouth, genitals and anus, nine psychic centres, nine planets, nine divisions of time—ghatika, yama, ahoratra, vara, tithi, paksha, masa, ritu, nine gems, nine moods or Navras and nine forms of Goddess Durga or Tripurasundari worshipped during Navratras. As the strange combination of number 9 falls on the date 09.09.09, astrologers are very much excited and predict it might bring some good news for the nation and human being as well.

AFP: Monkeys, like people, prefer mimics: study Monkeys, like people, prefer mimics: study (AFP) – 14 hours ago WASHINGTON

Imitating others has long been seen as a useful way to explore the world—monkey see, monkey do—but imitation could also make monkeys popular, a study has found. Experts examining the habits of capuchins have discovered the monkeys build closer bonds with human playmates who mimic their behavior than with those who do not. In the study some monkeys were exposed to researchers who imitated their behavior with a small ball; others were paired with researchers whose actions did not. "After the imitation sequence, the monkeys consistently spent more time near the investigator who imitated them than with the investigator who did not," the researchers said. And the same may be true for humans, according to the group’s findings, published in the August 14 edition of the journal Science. "Human beings prefer the behavior of other people who subtly imitate their behavior and other affects," said Duane Alexander, a senior expert at the US National Institutes of Health (NIH), where part of the study was carried out. While humans often assume the body postures, mannerisms or gestures of people they meet although neither party tends to be aware of the imitation, it nonetheless promotes social links, the researchers found. It is hoped the findings "may lead to insights into disorders in which imitation and bonding is impaired such as certain forms of autism," explained Alexander. The study was carried out by researchers at the NIH, the Italian National Research Council and the University of Parma.

Demand in RS for special squad to deal with monkeys

New Delhi, Aug 7 (PTI) Troubled by monkeys in South Avenue where MPs reside, an AIADMK member today demanded a special squad be deployed in the area here to scare away the primates.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha, K Malaisamy said the monkey menace in the area is a perennial problem and complained that the issue was not addressed seriously by the authorities.

"We are all out to protect forest animals but human life is more important," he said, adding if the government was not forthcoming in taking any action, the passersby would carry guns for self defence.

He suggested that as a temporary measure, a special squad can be placed in that area and the government can convene a meeting of officials and MPs living in that area to find out a long-term solution.

Police believe monkey used to steal from business | Latest News | WFAA.com

RICHARDSON – The owners of a Richardson plant store almost couldn’t believe their eyes after viewing surveillance video after a recent theft.

After a string of thefts at the store, the owners decided to put up security cameras in hopes of catching the bandits in action. However, their curiosity turned to shock when they said they saw what appeared to be a small monkey scooping up plants, flowers and accessories and handing it to someone waiting on the other side of a fence.

The owners of Plants & Planters called Richardson police, who agreed it was a monkey in the video.

"And she said, ‘You really aren’t going to believe this and I know you’re going to think I am crazy, but there is a monkey on this video," said Shelley Rosenfeld, the owner of Plants & Planters, of when the manager of the store called her after watching the video. "And I said, ‘Really?’ I mean, it’s really hard to believe a monkey would come over here and do it, but it’s pretty clear that it’s a monkey."

Authorities said the monkey got off with a total of 30 to 40 plants, flowers and concrete statues.

The owner said she asked police to not pursue the investigation because she actually found the incident humorous.

Monkeys Recognize Poor Grammar

07/08/09

Monkeys Recognize Poor Grammar

Matt Kaplan
for National Geographic News
July 8, 2009

Monkeys can form sentences and speak in accents—and now a new study shows that our genetic relatives can also recognize poor grammar.

"We were really curious whether monkeys could even detect the common trend found in human language to add sounds to word edges, like adding ‘ed’ in English to create the past tense," said lead study author Ansgar Endress, a linguist at Harvard University.

Previous research in cotton-top tamarins had shown that the animals can understand basic grammar, for instance, identifying which words logically follow other words in a sentence.

But that same study, published in the journal Science in 2004, found that monkeys did not understand complex grammar, such as when words in a sentence depend on each other but are separated.

While that study suggested monkeys were deaf to complex communication, the new research shows that tamarins can grasp at least one advanced concept: prefixes and suffixes.

Wordplay

For their study, Endress and colleagues played recordings of made-up English words to a population of captive cotton-top tamarins for roughly 30 minutes a day.

Half of the tamarins were exposed to words with a varied stem but a constant suffix (such as bi-shoy, mo-shoy, and lu-shoy). The other half were exposed to a constant prefix followed by a varied stem (such as shoy-bi, shoy-mo, and shoy-lu).

The following day, individual tamarins were brought into an observation enclosure equipped with an audio speaker and video-recording equipment to capture their behavior. These tamarins were then exposed to more words.

Many of the words followed the same language rules that the tamarins had heard the day before, with half hearing "shoy" as a suffix and half hearing it as a prefix.

However, every once in a while, the researchers would play a recording of an "incorrect" word. For instance, the speaker would broadcast "shoy" as a suffix when it had previously been presented as a prefix, or vice versa.

Mental Machinery

Other biologists who were not aware of the research question were asked to watch and note every time the small mammals turned their heads toward the speaker.

When tamarins were exposed to words that "broke" the rules they had learned, they looked toward the speaker in a startled manner, observers noted.

(Related: "Monkeys Can Subtract, Study Finds.")

The finding is dramatic, Endress explained, because it reveals that our distant cousins seem to have the mental machinery to identify verbal structures like suffixes and prefixes.

The research will appear this week in the journal Biology Letters.

Once You’ve Seen the Lights

<" alt="" border="0" />—[if gte mso 9]> Normal 0 false false false EN-US ZH-TW HI MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 < —[if gte mso 9]> < ![endif]-->

There is an old saying that goes; “how can you go back to the farm, once you’ve seen the lights of gay Perris.” Yet in less than 48 hours God willing I will be back in good old North Carolina. My home and my birth place. I can’t believe it, but this is it ladies and gentlemen, my last blog for awhile. I know, I know, whatever will you do without my adorable musings. For the last several years I have been away from the party life, from going out every night, and I substituted my animal lifestyle for one behind the keyboard. I joined every social networking site I saw and copied and pasted my erratic ramblings across the inter-webs. Now I am off across country (again), and I’m not sure as to when I will be able to set up my desktop next. I don’t particularly care to access my shit from other people’s computers, so you providing my plane doesn’t crash it may be a few weeks or even a few months before I’m settled. Who knows where I will be or what will have happened.  It may be a few days, a few weeks, or a few years. I have to work some things out and figure out where I went wrong. There is a lot that I have been going through mentally over the last few months and hopefully I can work some of it out before I make it back out to the Left Coast… And let it be known I will return. I will not accept defeat. I will not be beaten by California.  I have had a lot of wild and crazy experiences since I left North Carolina. I can’t believe I’m even going back. In the meantime there are a lot of friends that I have missed and that hopefully have missed me. Those of you that give a fuck be ready when my plane touches down, and those of out that have been happy to have me gone, start quaking in your boots. I would like to say thank you to those who have helped me along through the last bit and to my former lover and forever friend who brought me out here. I wish that I would have been a better hustler and more adept to making shit happen. I kind of lost interest after you left and I just gave up. Next time kid.

The universe is weird the way it works. I never expected to make it this far. When I was 16 my high school teachers all agreed I would be lucky to reach 18, but I proved them all wrong by reaching 31. I have fought tooth and nail to get as far away from those days as I could. The pain of loss, and rejection, has driven me, now they drive me back home. I would laugh but only to keep from crying. The sweet sticky California bud is rolling round my mind now guiding my hands across the keyboard as it has so many late nights blogging till I fell asleep. The future is uncertain, but then again hasn’t it always been. Years ago when I stepped out of prison on the faithful mountain in Ohio I had no clue as to where I was going to end up. Since then I have lived in New York, Atlanta (twice), St. Louis, and now Oakland, California. And I did it with the help of friends, and people who loved me. I hope to see the rest of my days the same. I feel something is pulling me backwards though, as if I need to be home to set a few things right The Universe doesn’t like unfinished business after all. So until we speak again-keep up the Monkee Business.

A quintet of genetically engineered glowing monkeys have proved that foreign genes can be passed onto future generations.

The five marmosets carry a fluorescent protein gene that causes their skin to glow under ultraviolet light. Scientists were able to show the gene could be inherited by their offspring.

The Japanese breakthrough opens up the prospect for the first time of monkeys being used – like mice – as research tools for the study of numerous human diseases.

In no uncertain terms, a Montana man tells judge why he won’t serve

APRIL 30—There are probably better ways to avoid jury duty than the approach recently taken by a Montana man. After Erik Slye, 36, received a jury notice earlier this year, he filed a notarized affidavit seeking to be excused from serving on a District Court panel in Gallatin County. Slye’s caustic affidavit, which he prepared with help from his wife Jennifer, can be found below. The document, of course, did not sit well with court officials and led a judge to threaten to jail Slye. But after being summoned to court, Slye apologized for the affidavit and avoided being cited on a criminal failure to appear rap. And he also was excused from serving on a jury. (1 pa

Bongekile Mhlanga Mkhuhlu –

A dead monkey had the last laugh when the Mpumalanga pensioner who killed him with an axe died a few hours later. Zondani Mkhwanazi, 64, of Mkhuhlu near Hazyview and his son, Bongani, were sitting outside Mkhwanazi’s house on Saturday when he noticed movement at the top of a nearby tree. It was a monkey jumping from one tree to another, screeching and chattering. Mkhwanazi tried to chase the monkey away, but the animal settled in an isolated tree and wouldn’t budge. "My father thought the monkey was making fun of him," said Bongani. He said his enraged father went into the house, fetched an axe and chopped down the tree, forcing the monkey to the ground where Zondani killed it with the axe. Three hours later Zondani started complaining of cramps in his chest. "We all thought it was old-age aches and pains from chopping down the tree," said Bongani The family went to bed and was woken by the screams of their mother, Busisiwe Mkhwanazi. When they went into the bedroom, she told the family that their father had died in his sleep. Busisiwe can’t understand why he had died, saying her husband was such a strong man. "I was looking forward to spending a lot more years with him," said the heart-broken widow. "At least he passed away in his sleep. There’s some comfort in knowing he didn’t suffer," said Bongani Zondani’s neighbour Simon Madala is still in shock over Mkhwanazi’s death. "How can a man die after chopping a tree at his own homestead?" he asked.

Robot attacked Swedish factory worker

Published: 28 Apr 09 10:12 CET

A Swedish company has been fined 25,000 kronor ($3,000) after a malfunctioning robot attacked and almost killed one of its workers at a factory north of Stockholm.
Public prosecutor Leif Johansson mulled pressing charges against the firm but eventually opted to settle for a fine.

"I’ve never heard of a robot attacking somebody like this," he told news agency TT.

The incident took place in June 2007 at a factory in Bålsta, north of Stockholm, when the industrial worker was trying to carry out maintenance on a defective machine generally used to lift heavy rocks. Thinking he had cut off the power supply, the man approached the robot with no sense of trepidation.

But the robot suddenly came to life and grabbed a tight hold of the victim’s head. The man succeeded in defending himself but not before suffering serious injuries.

"The man was very lucky. He broke four ribs and came close to losing his life," said Leif Johansson.

The matter was subject to an investigation by both the Swedish Work Environment Authority (Arbetsmiljöverket) and the police.

Prosecutor Johansson chastised the company for its inadequate safety procedures but he also placed part of the blame on the injured worker.
