The Armada is eternal and forever changing, one must never become stagnate, yet one must never forget where one came from. Moving in circles yet growing closer to the heavens we are the dream of Brahma and the perfect creature that mankind was born from in the Snowy lands. Visions of us are what legends are made of. The wise monkey still laughs in the face of adversity. We are reminded in our darkest hour of a legend;

Jupiter issued a proclamation to all the beasts of the forest and promised a royal reward to the one whose offspring should be deemed the handsomest. The Monkey came with the rest and presented, with all a mother’s tenderness, a flat-nosed, hairless, ill-featured young Monkey as a candidate for the promised reward. A general laugh saluted her on the presentation of her son. She resolutely said, "I know not whether Jupiter will allot the prize to my son, but this I do know, that he is at least in the eyes of me his mother, the dearest, handsomest, and most beautiful of all."

In order to be free you must access your Monkee Mind; you must leave behind the corrupt hue-man hive mentality. Shed your false humanity and swing from the trees. Inside each of us lurks a beast be it Monkee or Panda, Squirrel or Penguin. You must shed your false mortal coil and recognize your Monkee heritage, remember that we are the descendents of Sun Wu Kong, we come from the same lineage as Hanuman, Thoth, we bring knowledge and light, and the hue-man race was born from our genes, we are the founding fathers of the earth itself. The trees are our kingdom and all the world is our domain, there is nothing we cannot do, nothing we cannot out shine. We are the Vanara who dwell in the midst of the forest of Kishkindha.

Pet monkey saves family

By EMBUN MAJID

ALOR SETAR, MALAYSIA: When Awang started to shriek, it was fortunate that a family of seven paid attention – the pet macaque was warning them about a lethal intruder. In the 3pm incident on Sunday, a cobra slithered towards the house in Kampung Bukit Teriak, about 25km from here. Munirah Mustaffa, 42, and her six children, aged between four and 20, were about to leave their house at that time. "When we heard Awang making noises, we assumed some wild monkeys had disturbed him. One of my sons, Mohd Sidqi Mat Isa, 11, volunteered to chase them away and he went out.

Victory! Nepalese Monkeys Saved From Vivisection

primate experiments The monkeys are going to stay in their own country After a campaign that lasted for six years (2003-2009) the Nepal government has decided to definitely halt the breeding of monkeys for biomedical research in the USA. It shows that it pays to have patience and that the good forces sometimes do win in the end! It has been a long ride for many of us, with countless ups and downs. In the meantime four of five Ministers came and went, high level bureaucrats changed postitions, and the population of captive monkeys increased significantly. As Manoj Gautam points out: ‘It shows what can be achieved when one person takes his responsibility serious.’ Kudos to Minister Dipak Bohara, and to everyone who has been involved in the Stop Monkey Business Campaign. This victory will be the end of the Gateway To Hell campaign. The Gateway To Hell campaign was all about the Nepal monkeys, and now that we won this campaign the people who were doing this work will shift their focuss on other targets. It doesn’t mean that we turn our back on the animals, not at all, it means we take other campaigns 200% seriously and the Gateway To Hell campaign is being put aside because of this. We want to thank everybody who has been active for this campaign, many people from many countries have showed their best side by being so active for the animals. We hope you will all stay active for the animals in other campaigns! the Gateway To Hell team. * 30-08-2009 eKantipur, Nepal Around three hundred monkeys that were to be exported to the United States of America from this week will be able to find their food in freedom, in their own country. A letter from the Ministry of Forestry for the immediate their immediate release will be send to Pravesh Man Shrestha, who has been breeding monkeys for the past five years. Forestry Minister Deepak Bohra said, "We have decided not to allow the monkeys to be exported. He further added, "We will ask Pravesh Man to release the monkeys within a week." After consulting the Department Heads of the Ministry Minster Bohara came to conclusion that it was illegal to export the monkeys. As a first step toward exporting monkeys Shrestha had planned to export 25 of the 300 monkeys to the Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research Center. Shrestha was breeding the monkeys under the auspices of Nepal Biomedical Research Center. American citizens had also financially supported this venture. They have now landed in Kathmandu looking for compensation. Shrestha had paid twenty five thousand rupees per monkey as tax to the Department of National Park and Wildlife Protection to procure 200 monkeys per the Forest animal breeding and research program Working Guidelines, 2060. "The law does not permit the export of any wild animals, thus, giving approval to export the monkeys would contravene the law," said an Under Secretary of the Ministry. "The Ministry has come to the conclusion that the monkeys should be released to their natural environment." Red monkey [Rhesus monkeys] are listed in the Appendix 2 of the CITES Convention. CITES has banned the export of wildlife in this list. Your Monkee Heritage; Baboons and Thoth

Your Monkee Heritage; Baboons and Thoth

India and East Asia are not the exclusive holders of Monkee mythology; South America and Africa have their own tales of our people. The wisest of the Egyptian gods, was called Thoth (also known as Tehuti), the baboon and ibis god of the moon. Thoth was the god who overcame the curse of Ra, allowing Nut to give birth to her five children, with his skill at games. According to Egyptian Mythology, when Ra retired from the earth, he appointed Thoth and told him of his desire to create a Light-soul in the Duat and in the Land of the Caves, and it was over this region that Ra appointed Thoth to rule, ordering him to keep a register of those who were there, and to hand out just punishments to them. Thoth became the representation of Ra in the afterlife, seen at the judgment of the dead in the “Halls of the Double Ma’at”. It was he who helped Isis perform the ritual that brought Osiris backs from the dead, and who he who drove the magical poison of Set from her son, Horus with the power of his magic. He was Horus’ supporter during the young god’s deadly battle with his uncle Set, helping Horus with his wisdom and magic. It was Thoth who brought Tefnut, back to heaven to be reunited with Ra; she had left Egypt for Nubia after an argument with her father. Originally, Thoth was considered a god of creation, but was later thought to be the one who civilized hue-mans, teaching them civic and religious practices, writing, medicine, music and magic. It was Thoth who was thought to have taught men the mode and pronunciation of his writing for prayers and magic spells could fail if not intoned correctly. He was known as the master of magic. The magical powers of Thoth were so great, the Egyptians had tales of a “Book of Thoth”, which were said to allow one whom read the sacred text to become the most powerful magician in the world. The Book which "the god of wisdom wrote with his own hand" was a deadly book that was said to bring nothing but pain and suffering to thee whom read it, despite finding the "secrets of the gods themselves" and "all that is hidden in the stars”. Thoth was typically depicted as an ibis headed man or as a full ibis, or at times with the face of a baboon and the body of a man or, again, as a baboon. The ibis had a crescent shaped beak, linking the bird to the moon. The baboon, on the other hand, was a night animal that was seen by the Egyptians who would greet the sun with chattering noises each morning just as Thoth, (the moon god), would greet Ra, (the sun god), as he rose each day.

The baboon was also much admired in Egypt for its intelligence and also for its sexual lustfulness. Baboon feces were an ingredient in Egyptian aphrodisiac ointments. The baboon held several positions in Egyptian mythology. The name of the baboon god Baba, who was worshipped in Pre-Dynastic times, may be the origin of the animal’s name. As Thoth was a god of the moon, his baboons were often shown wearing the crescent moon on their head. Baboons carried out Thoth’s duties as the god of measurement when they were portrayed at the spout of water clocks, and on the scales which weighed the heart of the deceased in the judgment of the dead. The baboon had several other funerary roles. Baboons were said to guard the first gate of the underworld, In Chapter 155 of the Book of the Dead, four baboons were described as sitting as the corners of a pool of fire in the Afterlife. One of the Four Sons of Horus had the head of a baboon and protected the lungs of the deceased. By the Late Period, titles such as "Priest of the Living Baboon" or "Priest of the Osiris-Baboon" were held by individuals who served gods in the court of the sanctuaries that had the form of baboon statues. They also looked after the sacred temple monkeys. The sacred troops of baboons functioned in small groups; much like the Armada does today. The most widely known are those from the Memphis, and Ptolemaic texts from the Necropolis at Saqqara, and confirms that a colony was kept in the temple of Ptah "under his Moringa-tree" in the valley. There may have been a dozen or so in the colony at any one time. One of these would have been singled out as an oracular and given the name, "the face of the baboon has spoken". The deified baboon first appears at Tuna el-Gevel as "Osiris-Baboon, justified", with no individual name. The first time a personal name appears for a baboon was on a piece of linen from the 26th or 27th Dynasty. Hence, from the beginning of Egyptian history through at least the beginning of the Christian period, baboons held a very consistent and important role in ancient Egyptian religion, in many different aspects, from demon to protector. They became associated with a number of the most important Egyptian gods, as well as the king.

Monkey Found Guarding Dead Couple - ABC News

08/18/09

Monkey Found Guarding Dead Couple – ABC News Police are trying to figure out what happened to two people who were found dead Saturday in an Orlando, Fla., home, surrounded by dozens of pets, including dogs, cats, birds and four exotic Monkees. Share Questions surround the death of Fla. couple who lived with wild animals. One of the Monkees was holding on to one of the two people and would not let go, police told ABC News affiliate WFTV in Orlando. A family member called police after finding the two inside their home in College Park, police said. Police identified the two people as Kathryn Whitson and her boyfriend Walter Simpson, both 72. It had not yet been determined how they died, but foul play was not suspected, police said. "You can’t really describe how you feel when you respond to something like that, especially when you have two people dead and you don’t know why," Orlando Police Sgt. Barb Jones told WFTV. Police and Orange County animal welfare agents had been to the home before to investigate reports of squalid conditions in the house.

The Orlando Sentinel reports today that the Monkee had nothing to do with the deaths.

Sidelights: Drunken monkeys lead cops to stash Sidelights: Drunken monkeys lead cops to stash Arab News TANUMA: Baboons are a common sight in the western region of Saudi Arabia, but what about drunken baboons? According to a report in Tuesday’s Al-Riyadh newspaper, a troop of monkeys went ape wild on a mountaintop near this village in the south, causing police to investigate. It turns out our simian friends happened upon a stash of distilled libations, and that’s when the party started. They managed to get into those bottles with the magic of opposable thumbs. Police believe smugglers from the south hid the stash, though perhaps only the monkeys know for sure who the culprits really were.

We learn from our mistakes, right? Well, maybe not as much as we learn from our successes, according to a new study.

The research, done on monkeys, suggests that the brain neurons involved in learning may process information more effectively after a success than after a failure, which in turn leads to an improvement in behavior.

Once You’ve Seen the Lights

There is an old saying that goes; “how can you go back to the farm, once you’ve seen the lights of gay Perris.” Yet in less than 48 hours God willing I will be back in good old North Carolina. My home and my birth place. I can’t believe it, but this is it ladies and gentlemen, my last blog for awhile. I know, I know, whatever will you do without my adorable musings. For the last several years I have been away from the party life, from going out every night, and I substituted my animal lifestyle for one behind the keyboard. I joined every social networking site I saw and copied and pasted my erratic ramblings across the inter-webs. Now I am off across country (again), and I’m not sure as to when I will be able to set up my desktop next. I don’t particularly care to access my shit from other people’s computers, so you providing my plane doesn’t crash it may be a few weeks or even a few months before I’m settled. Who knows where I will be or what will have happened.  It may be a few days, a few weeks, or a few years. I have to work some things out and figure out where I went wrong. There is a lot that I have been going through mentally over the last few months and hopefully I can work some of it out before I make it back out to the Left Coast… And let it be known I will return. I will not accept defeat. I will not be beaten by California.  I have had a lot of wild and crazy experiences since I left North Carolina. I can’t believe I’m even going back. In the meantime there are a lot of friends that I have missed and that hopefully have missed me. Those of you that give a fuck be ready when my plane touches down, and those of out that have been happy to have me gone, start quaking in your boots. I would like to say thank you to those who have helped me along through the last bit and to my former lover and forever friend who brought me out here. I wish that I would have been a better hustler and more adept to making shit happen. I kind of lost interest after you left and I just gave up. Next time kid.

The universe is weird the way it works. I never expected to make it this far. When I was 16 my high school teachers all agreed I would be lucky to reach 18, but I proved them all wrong by reaching 31. I have fought tooth and nail to get as far away from those days as I could. The pain of loss, and rejection, has driven me, now they drive me back home. I would laugh but only to keep from crying. The sweet sticky California bud is rolling round my mind now guiding my hands across the keyboard as it has so many late nights blogging till I fell asleep. The future is uncertain, but then again hasn’t it always been. Years ago when I stepped out of prison on the faithful mountain in Ohio I had no clue as to where I was going to end up. Since then I have lived in New York, Atlanta (twice), St. Louis, and now Oakland, California. And I did it with the help of friends, and people who loved me. I hope to see the rest of my days the same. I feel something is pulling me backwards though, as if I need to be home to set a few things right The Universe doesn’t like unfinished business after all. So until we speak again-keep up the Monkee Business.

Human intellect has an ancient history, ‘courtesy monkeys’

06/17/09

Human intellect has an ancient history, ‘courtesy monkeys’ New York, Jun 17 (PTI) A new study has suggested that human intellect has a very ancient history—after scientists found that individual monkeys perform consistently on numerous different tests of intelligence. A team at the Harvard University, led by Indian-origin scientist Konika Banerjee, has found that some traces of human intelligence such as a sense of numbers, or the ability to use tools, lurk in primates, the ‘New Scientist’ reported. "We were essentially looking for evidence of a general intelligence factor—something that would be an evolutionary homologue of what we see in humans," Banerjee said. Working with 22 cotton-top tamarins, the scientists tested all the monkeys on a wide range of cognitive tasks, 11 in total. "What we did here was, very crudely, create a monkey IQ test," Banerjee said. In most tasks, the monkeys ended up in clear-cut groupings—above average, average, and below average. For instance, in one test, animals had to reach around a plastic barrier to obtain a raisin placed right in front of them, but behind the barrier. The smartest quickly figured out the trick, another group went straight for the raisin before realising a reach-around was needed. PTI

Monkeys may hold clues to human obesity

Monkeys may hold clues to human obesity

Some monkeys manage their diet in a similar way to humans, suggesting that the origin of human obesity could go back earlier than previously thought, research shows.

Annika Felton spent a year studying the feeding habits of 15 Peruvian spider monkeys in the canopy of the Bolivian rainforest.

She found the herbivores controlled their daily protein intake in a similar way to humans, who are omnivores.

The findings, published in the online Behavioral Ecology last week, could shed light on the ancient origins of human obesity.

Dr Felton found the monkeys, which travelled between two and six kilometres a day, had a consistent daily protein intake of between 11 and 12 grams regardless of the season or whether they ate fruit only or added higher-protein leaves and shoots in their diet.

"In the fruit season they can have a 100 per cent fruit diet and still get the protein they need but they do it by gorging themselves and eating (the low protein fruit) until they reach their protein target," she said.

"They get a huge amount of energy and they do look a little rounder."

Man dies after killing monkey

Bongekile Mhlanga Mkhuhlu –

A dead monkey had the last laugh when the Mpumalanga pensioner who killed him with an axe died a few hours later. Zondani Mkhwanazi, 64, of Mkhuhlu near Hazyview and his son, Bongani, were sitting outside Mkhwanazi’s house on Saturday when he noticed movement at the top of a nearby tree. It was a monkey jumping from one tree to another, screeching and chattering. Mkhwanazi tried to chase the monkey away, but the animal settled in an isolated tree and wouldn’t budge. "My father thought the monkey was making fun of him," said Bongani. He said his enraged father went into the house, fetched an axe and chopped down the tree, forcing the monkey to the ground where Zondani killed it with the axe. Three hours later Zondani started complaining of cramps in his chest. "We all thought it was old-age aches and pains from chopping down the tree," said Bongani The family went to bed and was woken by the screams of their mother, Busisiwe Mkhwanazi. When they went into the bedroom, she told the family that their father had died in his sleep. Busisiwe can’t understand why he had died, saying her husband was such a strong man. "I was looking forward to spending a lot more years with him," said the heart-broken widow. "At least he passed away in his sleep. There’s some comfort in knowing he didn’t suffer," said Bongani Zondani’s neighbour Simon Madala is still in shock over Mkhwanazi’s death. "How can a man die after chopping a tree at his own homestead?" he asked.

Robot attacked Swedish factory worker

Published: 28 Apr 09 10:12 CET

A Swedish company has been fined 25,000 kronor ($3,000) after a malfunctioning robot attacked and almost killed one of its workers at a factory north of Stockholm.
Public prosecutor Leif Johansson mulled pressing charges against the firm but eventually opted to settle for a fine.

"I’ve never heard of a robot attacking somebody like this," he told news agency TT.

The incident took place in June 2007 at a factory in Bålsta, north of Stockholm, when the industrial worker was trying to carry out maintenance on a defective machine generally used to lift heavy rocks. Thinking he had cut off the power supply, the man approached the robot with no sense of trepidation.

But the robot suddenly came to life and grabbed a tight hold of the victim’s head. The man succeeded in defending himself but not before suffering serious injuries.

"The man was very lucky. He broke four ribs and came close to losing his life," said Leif Johansson.

The matter was subject to an investigation by both the Swedish Work Environment Authority (Arbetsmiljöverket) and the police.

Prosecutor Johansson chastised the company for its inadequate safety procedures but he also placed part of the blame on the injured worker.
